Reading the spec sheet

It runs the electric motor, with all-wheel drive. Being electric, it is quiet and quick from a stop, and it charges at home, at work or at public chargers. All-wheel drive helps when pulling away on snow; braking and steering still depend on the tires.

It uses 17.4 kWh per 100 km, so 300 km takes about 52 kWh of charge. On paper it goes 507 km between charges, less in winter. For 1,000 km, budget about $26.10 at our price setting.

The Model Y in everyday use

As a compact SUV, it sits higher than a sedan, which makes getting in and loading easier.

Good uses for the Model Y

It suits city driving and anyone with charging at home or work. It suits people who want to try an electric car before buying one.

Third-party liability comes with every rate. For the car itself: your own policy with OPCF 27, a card that covers rentals, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. A deposit is held before each rental; the amount is on the car's page. Additional drivers can be added; each one meets the same rules and signs the agreement.
