Small things that help
Use the grade of fuel your owner's manual calls for. Switch to winter tires before the first snow, and back in spring. Listen for new noises and mention them to the shop with as much detail as you can.
Before the shop starts
Ask whether the shop will check anything related while the car is there. Ask how the shop will contact you if it finds something unexpected. Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare.
