Renting the 2001 Mazda MX-5
If a car by the month is the plan, the 2001 Mazda MX-5 is worth a look; here is why. One booking runs up to 365 days and renews with a new agreement. There is no long contract: stop at the end of any booking.
Specs, explained
The EPA does not rate this model year for fuel use; heavier trucks and vans are often not rated.
Space, size and seats
As a two-seat sports car, it puts the driving first and the luggage second.
Best uses
It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while. It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going.
Getting this car from us
Put this car and your dates in a request, and we reply with an offer. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile, 7 similar cars are listed below. Pick it up from us for free, or have it brought to you.
The steps
Choose a car, set the pickup and return times, and send the request. You pay nothing to ask. You get an offer that says exactly what the rental costs before tax. If the offer works for you, approve and pay to confirm. If not, you owe nothing.
Each car page lists what is included and what costs extra. Need it longer than 365 days? Renew with a new agreement when the booking ends. Requests need at least 2 hours of notice before the pickup time.
The rules, briefly
The minimum age is 18, and the licence must be an Ontario G2 or G, valid for the whole trip. Under 26, a young driver fee applies for each day of the rental. Debit works on cars marked "no credit card needed"; the others take a credit card.
Third-party liability is included in the rate. For damage to the car, you choose one of three options before pickup. Each car's deposit is listed on its page, so you know it before you ask. Before confirming, we verify the licence and identity of each driver.
Ask us
Not sure which car? Describe the trip in your request and we will suggest one.

Can I rent a 2001 Mazda MX-5 in Toronto?
Not from our fleet right now. Send a request for this exact car and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile 7 similar cars are available below.
How old do I need to be to rent?
18 or older at pickup, with an Ontario G2 or G licence valid for the whole rental. Drivers aged 18 to 20 pay a young driver fee of $35 a day, and 21 to 25 pay $20 a day.
How much is the deposit?
Between $500 and $5,000, depending on the car. It is taken about 1 hour before pickup, never when you book, and the balance is released within 7 business days after you return the car.
What coverage do I need?
Third-party liability is included in the rate. For damage to the car itself, have your own policy (OPCF 27), a credit card with rental car coverage, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan, priced in your offer by car and driver age. At $2,500 or more we claim on our fleet policy and you pay the $2,500 deductible.
Can the car be delivered?
Yes, anywhere, including Toronto Pearson International Airport and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Delivery starts at $0 plus the distance from our location, priced in your offer. Collecting the car yourself is free.
