Reading the spec sheet

The electric motor with all-wheel drive is the powertrain to look at. It is fully electric: no gas at all, and you return it with the charge it had at pickup. With all-wheel drive, it pulls away more surely on slippery roads, though it does not stop any shorter.

It uses 15.6 kWh per 100 km, so 300 km takes about 47 kWh of charge. On paper it goes 568 km between charges, less in winter. At our price setting, driving 100 km costs about $2.34, and a 300 km weekend about $7.02.

Booking in plain terms

Each car shows its rate for a day, a weekend day, a week and a month. Rent for a day, a week or up to 365 days in one booking. Short notice is fine: 2 hours is the minimum before a pickup.

Rules for renters

Ontario G2 or G licences are accepted, for drivers 18 and older. If you are under 26, expect a young driver fee each day; there is no upper age limit. The card you pay with must be yours, and you bring it to the handover.

Before the keys change hands, one of three options must be in place for the car: OPCF 27, a card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. A deposit is held for every rental, about 1 hour before you get the car. A quick licence and identity check happens before we confirm any booking.
