The numbers in plain words

The engine is the 2.3L 4-cylinder turbo, with four-wheel drive and a 10-speed automatic. It runs on regular gas. Four-wheel drive helps on rough ground and deep snow; on dry roads it behaves like any other vehicle.

Combined fuel use is 11.4 L/100 km: about 34 litres for 300 km. In energy, every 100 km costs about $17.67 at our price setting.

Good uses for the Explorer

It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town. It suits people curious about the model who want to drive it before they buy.

Living with the Explorer

Being a full-size SUV, it handles luggage, strollers and sports gear well.

Getting this car from us

Your request can name this exact car; the offer confirms what we can give you. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. Your offer shows the delivery fee if you want the car brought to you.

Rules for renters

Drivers 18 and older can rent with a valid Ontario G2 or G licence. Each day of the rental carries a young driver fee if a driver is under 26. A card in the driver's own name is required at the handover.

You need one of three things in place for damage to the car: OPCF 27 on your own policy, a credit card that covers rentals, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. Each car's deposit is listed on its page, so you know it before you ask. The checks are the same for everyone: licence, identity and the agreement.

What happens when you ask for a car

Nothing to pay up front: the first step is simply a request. You get an offer that says exactly what the rental costs before tax. Approving the offer and paying it confirms the booking.

A car's page shows the deposit and the kilometres included each day. A single booking can run up to 365 days. For longer, it renews month after month. Requests for later the same day work when there are at least 2 hours to spare.
