Reading the spec sheet

The powertrain to know here is the 1.8L 4-cylinder, with front-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

Fuel use is rated 7.5 L/100 km combined, so 300 km needs about 23 litres. Per 100 km, plan on roughly $11.63.

Space, size and seats

As a mid-size car, it is easy to drive and park in the city. The EPA measures its luggage space at 368 litres, roughly about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.

Who it is for

It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month. It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going.

Renting the Corolla from CarmaCars

If you want this one, say so in the request; we confirm before you pay. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now.

From request to keys

Booking is by request, never instant. You send the car and the dates, and a person at CarmaCars reviews it. A person checks the request and sends you an offer with the full price. When you approve the offer and pay, the car is booked for you.

Rates are set car by car and shown on each car's page. A single booking can run up to 365 days. For longer, it renews month after month. A request can be for today, as long as the pickup is at least 2 hours away.

Renting: the basics

If you are 18 or over and hold an Ontario G2 or G licence, you can rent. There is no upper age limit, and drivers under 26 pay a fee for each day. Your original licence, not a photo, comes with you to the handover.

You need one of three things in place for damage to the car: OPCF 27 on your own policy, a credit card that covers rentals, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. Your deposit is held for the rental and released after the car comes back and is checked. Each renter is checked the same way, before the booking is confirmed.
