The Corolla and Java

CarmaCars is based in Toronto, about 1,639 km from Java, and does not deliver there. If you are starting from Toronto, rent the car here and drive it to Java.

Also close to Java: Selby, Lowry and Sitka.

Under the hood

Power comes from the 1.8L 4-cylinder, driving through an automatic (CVT). It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

A combined rating of 7.3 L/100 km works out to about 22 litres per 300 km. Per 100 km, plan on roughly $11.32.

Good uses for the Corolla

It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month. It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town.

Practical details

Being a compact car, it is easy to park and comfortable on longer drives. EPA lists 368 litres of luggage space, enough for about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.

What to bring

Drivers from 18 up, with an Ontario G2 or G licence, are welcome. Young drivers are welcome: a daily fee applies under 26. We check that the card and the licence carry the same name.

You pick how damage to the car is handled before pickup: OPCF 27, a credit card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. We take the deposit shortly before pickup and return it after the car comes back. We check your licence and identity before we confirm, the same way for every renter.

Requesting a car

You ask for the car you want for the dates you need. The request itself is free. You get an offer that says exactly what the rental costs before tax. If you approve, you pay and the car is yours for those dates.

Each car's calendar shows the days it is already booked. A single booking can run up to 365 days. For longer, it renews month after month. A request can be for today, as long as the pickup is at least 2 hours away.
