Renting for Java

CarmaCars is based in Toronto, about 1,933 km from Java, and does not deliver there. If you are starting from Toronto, rent the car here and drive it to Java.

The pages for Maydelle, Mewshaw and Oakland cover the areas next door.

Specs, explained

The powertrain here is the electric motor with all-wheel drive and a 1-speed automatic. It is fully electric: no gas at all, and you return it with the charge it had at pickup. With all-wheel drive, it pulls away more surely on slippery roads, though it does not stop any shorter.

Energy use is rated at 17.4 kWh/100 km, about 52 kWh for 300 km. On paper it goes 507 km between charges, less in winter. The electricity for 100 km comes to about $2.61 at our price setting.

Inside and out

An SUV body means more headroom and a taller cargo opening than a car of the same length.

A good match for

It suits people who want to try an electric car before buying one. It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going.

The steps

All you send at first is a request with the car and the dates, and it is free. You then get an offer from us with the car, the dates and the total before tax. Payment happens only after you accept the offer.

Open a car to see its photos, rates, deposit and kilometres included. From 7 days, the weekly rate applies; up to 365 days, a trip never costs more than the monthly rate. Book ahead if you can; 2 hours is the shortest notice we take.

Who can rent

An Ontario G2 or G licence and an age of 18 or more: that is where it starts. Young drivers are welcome: a daily fee applies under 26. A card in the driver's own name is required at the handover.

Third-party liability is in the rate; for the car, bring OPCF 27, use your card's benefit, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. There is a deposit for each rental, taken shortly before pickup rather than at booking. Every renter goes through the same check of licence and identity before the car is confirmed.

Your move

The next step is yours: send a request whenever you are ready.
