What the specs mean

The electric motor with all-wheel drive is the powertrain to look at. It is fully electric: no gas at all, and you return it with the charge it had at pickup. With all-wheel drive, it pulls away more surely on slippery roads, though it does not stop any shorter.

For every 100 km it uses about 17.4 kWh. Its rated range is 507 km on a full charge; real range drops in cold weather and at highway speeds. At our price setting, driving 100 km costs about $2.61, and a 300 km weekend about $7.83.

Inside and out

As a compact SUV, it sits higher than a sedan, which makes getting in and loading easier.

Best uses

It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. It suits winter trips and weekends with more gear than people.

Rules for renters

You need to be 18 or older at pickup, with an Ontario G2 or G licence valid for the whole rental. Young drivers are welcome: a daily fee applies under 26. The card you pay with must be yours, and you bring it to the handover.

Before the keys change hands, one of three options must be in place for the car: OPCF 27, a card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. We take the deposit shortly before pickup and return it after the car comes back. Licence and identity checks happen before the booking is confirmed.

Booking made plain

To book, you request the car for your dates. There is no charge to send it and no obligation. An offer follows, with the car we confirm and the full price for your dates. If you approve, you pay and the car is yours for those dates.

Each car has its own page with its photos, its rates and its calendar. A rental of 7 days or longer is priced at the weekly rate. We need at least 2 hours of notice before a pickup.

Ready when you are

A request takes a few minutes and puts a real offer in front of you.
