Luup alternative: the 1981 GMC Hi-Cube
Renting the 1981 GMC Hi-Cube as a rental car works like any rental with us: a free request, an offer, then the keys. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar.
Engine and fuel
The EPA does not rate this model year for fuel use; heavier trucks and vans are often not rated.
When the Hi-Cube makes sense
It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one. It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town.
Living with the Hi-Cube
As a car, it has a closed trunk that keeps luggage out of sight.
Renting this car
Similar cars are below if you need one sooner. Ask for this exact car in your request, and we tell you what we can offer. There is no exact match in our fleet today. Request it and we search for one, or take a similar car. We hand every car over in person, at your address or at our location.
Request, offer, keys
Every booking starts as a request: the car, the dates and where you want it. Nothing is charged to send one. You then get an offer from us with the car, the dates and the total before tax. When you approve the offer and pay, the car is booked for you.
Rates are set car by car and shown on each car's page. Book one day, one week, or up to 365 days at once. Plan for at least 2 hours between sending the request and picking up the car.
Licence, age and card
Our minimum age is 18; an Ontario G2 or G licence is required. Age fees stop at 26: younger drivers pay a daily young driver fee. A card in the driver's own name is required at the handover.
The CarmaCars Protection Plan is one of three options for damage to the car; the others are OPCF 27 on your policy or a card with rental car benefits. We take the deposit shortly before pickup and return it after the car comes back. Each renter is checked the same way, before the booking is confirmed.

Can I rent a 1981 GMC Hi-Cube in Toronto?
Not from our fleet right now. Send a request for this exact car and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile 6 similar cars are available below.
How old do I need to be to rent?
18 or older at pickup, with an Ontario G2 or G licence valid for the whole rental. Drivers aged 18 to 20 pay a young driver fee of $35 a day, and 21 to 25 pay $20 a day.
How much is the deposit?
Between $500 and $5,000, depending on the car. It is taken about 1 hour before pickup, never when you book, and the balance is released within 7 business days after you return the car.
What coverage do I need?
Third-party liability is included in the rate. For damage to the car itself, have your own policy (OPCF 27), a credit card with rental car coverage, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan, priced in your offer by car and driver age. At $2,500 or more we claim on our fleet policy and you pay the $2,500 deductible.
Can the car be delivered?
Yes, anywhere, including Toronto Pearson International Airport and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Delivery starts at $75 plus the distance from our location, priced in your offer. Collecting the car yourself is free.
