Luup alternative: the 1982 GMC Hi-Cube
If a rental car is the plan, the 1982 GMC Hi-Cube is worth a look; here is why. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar.
Under the hood
The EPA does not rate this model year for fuel use; heavier trucks and vans are often not rated.
Space and size
It is a straightforward car to drive, park and live with.
When the Hi-Cube makes sense
It suits a family trip where everyone and everything fits in one car. It suits people curious about the model who want to drive it before they buy.
Our Hi-Cube cars
Put this car and your dates in a request, and we reply with an offer. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile, 6 similar cars are listed below. Your offer shows the delivery fee if you want the car brought to you.
Who can rent
An Ontario G2 or G licence and an age of 18 or more: that is where it starts. The young driver fee covers drivers under 26; older drivers pay no age fee. Your licence and the card you paid with come with you to the pickup.
Damage to the car is handled one of three ways: OPCF 27 on your policy, a credit card's rental car benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. Your deposit is held about 1 hour ahead of pickup and released after the return. Extra drivers are welcome; each one is checked and signs the agreement.
Booking made plain
Send a request for the car and dates you have in mind. It is free and it commits you to nothing. The offer we send lists the car we confirm and the full price. You decide: approve and pay, or let it go. No charge either way until you approve.
The car pages show each car's rates, deposit and kilometres included. Short trips and long stays use the same request; the rate follows the length. At least 2 hours must separate the request from the pickup.
Talk to a person
If something here is unclear, ask in your request; we reply in plain words.

Can I rent a 1982 GMC Hi-Cube in Toronto?
Not from our fleet right now. Send a request for this exact car and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile 6 similar cars are available below.
How old do I need to be to rent?
18 or older at pickup, with an Ontario G2 or G licence valid for the whole rental. Drivers aged 18 to 20 pay a young driver fee of $35 a day, and 21 to 25 pay $20 a day.
How much is the deposit?
Between $500 and $5,000, depending on the car. It is taken about 1 hour before pickup, never when you book, and the balance is released within 7 business days after you return the car.
What coverage do I need?
Third-party liability is included in the rate. For damage to the car itself, have your own policy (OPCF 27), a credit card with rental car coverage, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan, priced in your offer by car and driver age. At $2,500 or more we claim on our fleet policy and you pay the $2,500 deductible.
Can the car be delivered?
Yes, anywhere, including Toronto Pearson International Airport and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Delivery starts at $75 plus the distance from our location, priced in your offer. Collecting the car yourself is free.
