The CarmaCars Protection Plan is one of three options for damage to the car; the others are OPCF 27 on your policy or a card with rental car benefits. The deposit is never taken when you book; it comes about 1 hour before pickup. Each extra driver is checked the same way and signs the rental agreement.

Your part at the start is short: choose a car and dates and send a free request. If the car is free, you get an offer with the full price; if not, we suggest another car. An offer is valid for 24 hours, and you pay only when you approve it.
You can check any car's calendar before you send a request. Stay as long as you need: up to 365 days a booking, then renew. Short notice is fine: 2 hours is the minimum before a pickup.
