The 2001 Mazda MX-5: Turo alternative
Want to know if the 2001 Mazda MX-5 suits a rental car? Read on. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar.
Under the hood
No fuel-use rating is published for this model year, so we leave those figures out.
Who the MX-5 suits
It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next.
Living with the MX-5
As a two-seat sports car, it puts the driving first and the luggage second.
Getting one from us
Ask for this exact car in your request, and we tell you what we can offer. We have none on the site right now. Send a request for this exact car and we look for one for your dates. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. Pick it up from us for free, or have it brought to you.
The booking steps
You start by asking: a car, a start time, an end time. Asking is free. An offer follows, with the car we confirm and the full price for your dates. Offers stay open for 24 hours. Approve one and pay to book the car.
The photos on a car's page are of that car. A booking can be a single day or up to 365 days. Short notice is fine: 2 hours is the minimum before a pickup.
Who can rent
Renters must be at least 18 and hold an Ontario G2 or G licence. Drivers under 26 can rent with a young driver fee each day. A credit card in your name is needed, except on cars marked "no credit card needed", which take debit.
Choose before pickup how damage to the car is handled: your policy with OPCF 27, your card's rental benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. We hold the deposit shortly before pickup and release it after the return. We check your licence and identity before we confirm, the same way for every renter.
When you know your dates
A request takes a few minutes and puts a real offer in front of you.

Can I rent a 2001 Mazda MX-5 in Toronto?
Not from our fleet right now. Send a request for this exact car and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile 7 similar cars are available below.
How old do I need to be to rent?
18 or older at pickup, with an Ontario G2 or G licence valid for the whole rental. Drivers aged 18 to 20 pay a young driver fee of $35 a day, and 21 to 25 pay $20 a day.
How much is the deposit?
Between $500 and $5,000, depending on the car. It is taken about 1 hour before pickup, never when you book, and the balance is released within 7 business days after you return the car.
What coverage do I need?
Third-party liability is included in the rate. For damage to the car itself, have your own policy (OPCF 27), a credit card with rental car coverage, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan, priced in your offer by car and driver age. At $2,500 or more we claim on our fleet policy and you pay the $2,500 deductible.
Can the car be delivered?
Yes, anywhere, including Toronto Pearson International Airport and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Delivery starts at $75 plus the distance from our location, priced in your offer. Collecting the car yourself is free.
