Turo alternative: the 2009 MINI Cooper
If you need a rental car, the 2009 MINI Cooper is one option; this page explains the car and how booking works. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar.
Specs, explained
It runs the 1.6L 4-cylinder, with front-wheel drive. It calls for premium gas, which costs more a litre than regular. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter.
Fuel use is rated 7.4 L/100 km combined, so 300 km needs about 22 litres. A weekend of 300 km comes to about $38.85 at our price setting.
What the Cooper is like
Low and compact, it is a car for the drive more than the cargo. Luggage space is rated at 170 litres: about a large suitcase and a couple of soft bags.
Good uses for the Cooper
It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while. It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town.
Getting one from us
This exact car is not in our fleet at the moment; a request asks us to look for one. Ask for your dates, and we reply with what we can offer. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. Your offer shows the delivery fee if you want the car brought to you.
Your booking, in three steps
To get started, send a request for the car and dates. You are not charged for it. Back comes an offer you can read at your own pace, with every charge on it. Nothing is charged until you approve it and pay.
Rates are set car by car and shown on each car's page. A week or more is priced at the weekly rate, from 7 days. The minimum notice is 2 hours, so an afternoon pickup can be requested in the morning.
Requirements
An Ontario G2 or G licence and an age of 18 or more: that is where it starts. There is no maximum age. Drivers under 26 pay a young driver fee each day. Cars marked "no credit card needed" accept a debit card in your name; the others need a credit card.
Three options cover damage to the car: OPCF 27 on your auto policy, a credit card with rental car benefits, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. We hold the deposit shortly before pickup and release it after the return. Each renter is checked the same way, before the booking is confirmed.
