The steps

We can suggest a shop that suits the job and your location. Mention any warning lights or sounds; it helps the shop prepare. Send a request with the car and what it needs. A person replies and arranges it with a trusted shop or recommends one. We tell you plainly when we do not know a shop for the job.

Good habits for your car

Have the battery tested before winter if it is more than a few years old. Replace wiper blades when they streak; it matters in rain and snow. Have the cabin air filter changed on the maker's schedule.

Getting a clear quote

Keep the invoice; it is part of the car's service history. If the car must stay overnight, ask where it will be kept. Ask whether the quote includes both parts and labour. Ask if the shop needs the car for a full day or only a few hours.
