The 2020 Audi A4 Komfort: before you buy

No 2020 Audi A4 Komfort is for sale by CarmaCars at the moment; this page helps you judge the car before you buy one elsewhere. Thinking about the 2020 Audi A4 Komfort? Here are the numbers in plain words and what to check.

Before you sign for the A4

NHTSA lists 3 recall campaigns for this model; ask the seller for proof each one was fixed. Owners filed 158 complaints with NHTSA, most often about electrical system, back over prevention and unknown or other; have those parts checked. Have a mechanic inspect a used one before you buy it. A private seller in Ontario must give you a Used Vehicle Information Package.

Under the hood

It is powered by the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo, with front-wheel drive. The turbo gives a small engine the pull of a bigger one when you need it. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter.

The combined figure, 7.9 L/100 km, means roughly 24 litres for 300 km. Expect about $13.83 per 100 km at our price setting. The EPA estimates US$2,750 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles.

What the A4 is like

It is a straightforward car to drive, park and live with. NHTSA's Canadian figures put it at 4.76 m long. Check the size of a tight parking spot. Its 368 litre trunk is enough for about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.

A good match for

It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month. It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one.

Rent it for a week first

Rent it, live with it for a week, and decide with real experience. Rent the A4 first, and buy only if it fits your life. A week with the A4 answers more than any brochure.

Money matters

The EPA estimates US$2,750 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles at US prices. At our price setting, 100 km costs about $13.83 in fuel. A 1,000 km month costs roughly $138.30 at our price setting.

Choosing the right one

If two trims share a powertrain, the difference is equipment, which you can check in person. Look at a few listings of the same year and trim to get a feel for fair prices. Ask the seller which trim it is; badges can be swapped and options vary.
