The 2020 Honda Civic LX for buyers

We rent cars and sell one only now and then. There is no 2020 Honda Civic LX for sale by us right now. This page sets out the 2020 Honda Civic LX for buyers, in plain words.

    Recalls and complaints

Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay. In Ontario, a used car needs a Safety Standards Certificate to be registered. NHTSA has 236 owner complaints on file, mostly about electrical system, unknown or other and power train. A pre-purchase inspection at a shop you choose is money well spent.

    What the specs mean

The powertrain to know here is the 1.5L 4-cylinder turbo, with front-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter.

Fuel use is rated 6.9 L/100 km combined, so 300 km needs about 21 litres. At our price setting, it costs about $10.70 to drive 100 km. At US fuel prices, the EPA estimates US$1,960 a year for 15,000 miles.

    Practical details

As a compact car, it has a closed trunk that keeps luggage out of sight. The trunk holds 736 litres by the EPA's count: bulky luggage, a stroller or sports gear.

    Good uses for the Civic

It suits commuters, couples and business trips. It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next.

    Try before you buy

Try the Civic on your commute, then decide. Rent the Civic for a week and see how it fits your life. Rent the Civic for a week, or up to 365 days, before you commit to buying one.

    Running costs

The EPA estimates US$1,960 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles at US prices. At our price setting, 100 km costs about $10.70 in fuel. Tires, brakes and batteries are the regular costs to budget for beyond fuel.

    Which one to look for

A newer year is not always better; check what changed before paying more for it. Compare the LX with the other trims of the same year before you decide. Decide what matters most first: fuel use, space, or the price you can pay.

    Farmbrook and the Civic

CarmaCars is based in Toronto, about 509 km from Farmbrook, and does not deliver there. We rent from Toronto only. If your trip to Farmbrook starts in the Toronto area, rent the car here.
