    The figures, translated

The 2.0L 4-cylinder with front-wheel drive is the powertrain to look at. It runs on regular gas. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter.

For 300 km of mixed driving, expect about 20 litres, from its 6.6 L/100 km rating. A weekend of 300 km comes to about $30.69 at our price setting. The EPA estimates US$1,900 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles.

    Who rents the Corolla

It suits a family trip where everyone and everything fits in one car. It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going.

    Living with the Corolla

A car body like this keeps the weight low, so it feels settled on the highway. For luggage, 510 litres means a family's bags for a long weekend.

    Try before you buy

Rent the Corolla for a week, or up to 365 days, before you commit to buying one. Rent the Corolla first, and buy only if it fits your life. If the Corolla is in our fleet, its page shows the rates; if not, a similar car helps you judge.

    Choosing the right one

Compare the L with the other trims of the same year before you decide. A newer year is not always better; check what changed before paying more for it. If you are unsure between two options, rent one of them for a week first.

    The cost of driving it

Ask what a set of tires costs for this trim; sizes and prices vary. A 1,000 km month costs roughly $102.30 at our price setting. The EPA estimates US$1,900 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles at US prices.

    The Corolla and Java

We have no location in Java; CarmaCars rents from Toronto, about 770 km away. We rent from Toronto only. If your trip to Java starts in the Toronto area, rent the car here.
