Thinking of buying the 2021 Toyota Corolla L?

We rent cars and sell one only now and then. There is no 2021 Toyota Corolla L for sale by us right now. Here is the 2021 Toyota Corolla L for buyers: fuel use, size, recalls and a test drive that lasts a week.

    Recalls and complaints

Owners filed 187 complaints with NHTSA, most often about air bags, engine and unknown or other; have those parts checked. Ask for the service records and check open recalls by the VIN. A private seller in Ontario must give you a Used Vehicle Information Package. Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay.

    What the specs mean

Power comes from the 2.0L 4-cylinder, driving through a 10-speed automatic. It runs on regular gas. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter.

It is rated 6.6 L/100 km combined: about 20 litres every 300 km. In energy, every 100 km costs about $10.23 at our price setting. EPA puts its fuel cost at US$1,900 a year for 15,000 miles at US prices.

    Who the Corolla suits

It suits a work trip where a reliable car matters more than anything else. It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month.

    Room inside

It is a straightforward car to drive, park and live with. For luggage, 510 litres means a family's bags for a long weekend.

Drive it on your own roads

Nothing is charged until we confirm the rental and you approve the offer. Rent the Corolla for a week and see how it fits your life. A week with the Corolla answers more than any brochure.

    Which one to look for

Compare the L with the other trims of the same year before you decide. If you are unsure between two options, rent one of them for a week first. Ask the seller which trim it is; badges can be swapped and options vary.

    Running costs

Get an insurance quote for this exact model before you buy; rates differ a lot between models. Ask what a set of tires costs for this trim; sizes and prices vary. A pre-purchase inspection is a small cost next to the price of the car.
