Thinking of buying the 2021 Toyota Corolla LE?

No 2021 Toyota Corolla LE is for sale by CarmaCars at the moment; this page helps you judge the car before you buy one elsewhere. Thinking about the 2021 Toyota Corolla LE? Here are the numbers in plain words and what to check.

    Recalls and complaints

In Ontario, a used car needs a Safety Standards Certificate to be registered. Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay. Ask the seller for the service records of this exact car. A pre-purchase inspection at a shop you choose is money well spent.

    Reading the spec sheet

The 2.0L 4-cylinder is what moves it, with front-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter.

Combined fuel use is 6.6 L/100 km: about 20 litres for 300 km. Expect about $10.23 per 100 km at our price setting. EPA puts its fuel cost at US$1,900 a year for 15,000 miles at US prices.

    Practical details

Being a compact car, it is easy to park and comfortable on longer drives. The EPA lists 510 litres for luggage, roughly a family's bags for a long weekend.

Is it right for your trip?

It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month. It suits people curious about the model who want to drive it before they buy.

    Try before you buy

If the Corolla is in our fleet, its page shows the rates; if not, a similar car helps you judge. A week of your own driving tells you more than a test drive: the commute, the parking, the fuel. A test week in the Corolla tells you more than any review.

    Money matters

At our price setting, 100 km costs about $10.23 in fuel. The EPA estimates US$1,900 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles at US prices. A 1,000 km month costs roughly $102.30 at our price setting.

    Narrowing it down

Set a budget that includes tax, licensing, insurance and the first set of tires. A newer year is not always better; check what changed before paying more for it. If you are unsure between two options, rent one of them for a week first.

    The Corolla and Java

Java is about 770 km from Toronto, outside our delivery area. We rent from Toronto only. If your trip to Java starts in the Toronto area, rent the car here.
