Shopping for a car in Progress

A test drive that lasts

A few days with the car answers whether the seats, the space and the fuel use suit you. Renting first means you buy knowing the car, not guessing. If we have the model in our fleet, its page shows the rates; if not, a similar car gives you a feel for the class.

Questions to ask

In Ontario, a private seller must give the buyer a Used Vehicle Information Package. Have a mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it, at a shop you choose. A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy. Ask whether the car has been in an accident and how it was repaired.

While you shop

If the purchase falls through, you still have a car to drive. A rental keeps you driving if your old car sells sooner than planned. If the car you want is weeks away, rent one month at a time and stop when it arrives.

Renting from Toronto

CarmaCars operates from a single location in Toronto, so Progress is outside our area. The distance is about 417 km in a straight line, more than our delivery area of 80 km.

Our rentals start and end around Toronto; a test week has to begin there. If you move to the Toronto area, renting the car you want to buy is easy. If you are unsure whether we can help with Progress, ask; we answer plainly. Prices here are in Canadian dollars, not US dollars.
