Meet the 2012 Lexus RX

Here is what the 2012 Lexus RX offered, in numbers and plain words.

Under the hood

Power: the 3.5L 6-cylinder hybrid; drive: front-wheel drive. It is a hybrid: the battery charges itself as you drive and brake, so there is nothing to plug in. With front-wheel drive, the weight of the engine sits over the driven wheels, which helps in winter. The gearbox is a continuously variable automatic, so there are no gear changes to feel.

The EPA rates it at 8.0 L/100 km combined, so a 300 km weekend uses about 24 litres. In the city it is rated at 7.5 L/100 km, and on the highway 8.5. A 300 km round trip costs roughly $37.20 at our price setting.

Road trips

Each car shows the kilometres included each day and the rate for extra ones. Trips outside Ontario need our written consent, agreed before you go. Return the car with the fuel it had at pickup, or a fee applies.

Who rents the RX

It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. Families, skiers and anyone with bulky luggage. It suits a work trip where a reliable car matters more than anything else.

Inside and out

The higher seat of an SUV gives a good view of the road in traffic.

Similar cars are below if you need one sooner. We have none on the site right now. Send a request for this exact car and we look for one for your dates. Ask for this exact car in your request, and we tell you what we can offer. Delivery and pickup are both options across the Toronto area.

Driver basics

Ontario G2 or G licences are accepted, for drivers 18 and older. The daily young driver fee is shown on each car's page, for drivers under 26. The card you pay with must be yours, and you bring it to the handover.

Third-party liability is part of every rate, and damage to the car is handled by OPCF 27, a card benefit or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is separate from the rental price and is returned after the rental. Everyone who will drive signs the agreement after the licence check.

What to expect when you book

All you send at first is a request with the car and the dates, and it is free. We look at the request and send back an offer with the price for your exact dates. Say yes to the offer and pay; that is when the booking is made.

The car pages show each car's rates, deposit and kilometres included. A rental of 7 days or longer is priced at the weekly rate. With 2 hours of notice or more, a same-day pickup can work when the car is free.
