Under the hood

It runs the 2.0L 4-cylinder, with front-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

Its combined rating is 6.6 L/100 km, which means roughly 20 litres for 300 km. Per 100 km, plan on roughly $10.23. EPA puts its fuel cost at US$1,850 a year for 15,000 miles at US prices.

Size and space

As a mid-size car, it has a closed trunk that keeps luggage out of sight. At 510 litres, the trunk fits a family's bags for a long weekend.

When the Corolla makes sense

It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month. It suits a work trip where a reliable car matters more than anything else.

Drive it on your own roads

If the Corolla is in our fleet, its page shows the rates; if not, a similar car helps you judge. Drive the Corolla on your commute before you commit to it. Renting first costs a fraction of the price of buying the wrong car.

Running costs

Get an insurance quote for this exact model before you buy; rates differ a lot between models. At our price setting, 100 km costs about $10.23 in fuel. The EPA estimates US$1,850 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles at US prices.

Narrowing it down

If you are unsure between two options, rent one of them for a week first. Write down the VIN of any car you consider; it unlocks the recall and service history. A newer year is not always better; check what changed before paying more for it.

One more step

A rental request is free; the offer shows the full price.
