Luup alternative: beige 2020 Subaru Forester Base in Java

Luup alternative: the 2020 Subaru Forester Base

If a rental car is the plan, the 2020 Subaru Forester Base is worth a look; here is why. Every car has its own page with its rates and calendar. You choose the car; a person confirms it and sends the price.

The Forester and Java

Java is about 1,639 km from Toronto, outside our delivery area. If you are starting from Toronto, rent the car here and drive it to Java.

Around Java you will also find Selby, Lowry and Sitka.

Specs, explained

Power comes from the 2.5L 4-cylinder, driving through an automatic (CVT). It runs on regular gas. All-wheel drive helps when pulling away on snow; braking and steering still depend on the tires.

Combined fuel use is 8.2 L/100 km: about 25 litres for 300 km. Every 100 km costs about $12.71 in fuel at our price setting.

The Forester in everyday use

An SUV body means more headroom and a taller cargo opening than a car of the same length.

Who the Forester suits

It suits winter trips and weekends with more gear than people. It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month.

Renting it

Tell us your dates and we check this car or the closest match. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile, 6 similar cars are listed below.

What we ask of drivers

From age 18, with an Ontario G2 or G licence, you can send a request. Young drivers, under 26, can rent too, with a fee for each day. Cars marked "no credit card needed" accept a debit card in your name; the others need a credit card.

Before the keys change hands, one of three options must be in place for the car: OPCF 27, a card benefit, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. Deposits are listed car by car, so you can compare before you ask. Additional drivers can be added; each one meets the same rules and signs the agreement.

Booking in plain terms

Booking is by request, never instant. You send the car and the dates, and a person at CarmaCars reviews it. We confirm the details and send an offer. It lists the rental, any delivery and any add-ons. Payment happens only after you accept the offer.

Every car has its own daily, weekend, weekly and monthly rate. One booking runs up to 365 days, and a longer stay renews with a new agreement. Same-day requests are fine with at least 2 hours of notice, when the car is free.

Next step

A request costs nothing, and the offer tells you everything.
