The figures, translated

Power comes from the electric motor, driving through a 1-speed automatic. Being electric, it is quiet and quick from a stop, and it charges at home, at work or at public chargers. With all-wheel drive, it pulls away more surely on slippery roads, though it does not stop any shorter.

Its rating is 18.6 kWh/100 km: about 56 kWh for 300 km. Rated range: 507 km. Winter and highway speeds bring it down. At our price setting, 1,000 km costs about $27.90.

How big it is

Being a mid-size car, it is easy to park and comfortable on longer drives. The EPA lists 425 litres for luggage, roughly a family's bags for a long weekend.

Who it is for

It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. It suits a family trip where everyone and everything fits in one car.

Driver basics

You need to be 18 or older at pickup, with an Ontario G2 or G licence valid for the whole rental. A daily young driver fee applies to drivers under 26, with no maximum age. A credit card in your name is needed, except on cars marked "no credit card needed", which take debit.

Third-party liability is part of every rate, and damage to the car is handled by OPCF 27, a card benefit or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. Your deposit is held about 1 hour ahead of pickup and released after the return. Each renter is checked the same way, before the booking is confirmed.

Booking in plain terms

Booking starts online: pick the car, set the times, and send the request at no cost. A real person reviews your request and sends an offer with the price spelled out. When you approve the offer and pay, the car is booked for you.

Open a car to see its photos, rates, deposit and kilometres included. Weekly pricing starts at 7 days, and a trip never costs more than that rate for a week. A pickup can be as soon as 2 hours after your request, when the car is free.
