CarmaCars arranges an emissions test with trusted shops in the Toronto area, and does not do the work itself. An emissions test or emissions repair where your province or state requires one, by a licensed shop we arrange, not by CarmaCars. Emissions tests are required in some provinces and states; a licensed shop does the test.
The steps
You approve the shop's quote before any work begins. Tell us when suits you and whether the car can be driven. The shop quotes the work itself; we do not add to its price. If the car cannot be driven, say so, and we arrange the next step with the shop.
A car while yours is in the shop
We deliver the rental, or you collect it from us for free. A rental from us means you are not stuck while the shop works. You are also welcome to collect the car at our location for free.
Questions to ask the shop
Ask whether the shop needs your keys, the wheel lock key or the spare. Ask how long the job should take, so you know how long to rent for. Ask for the work to be listed line by line on the invoice. Ask for a written estimate before any work starts.
Small things that help
Switch to winter tires before the first snow, and back in spring. Do not ignore a warning light; an early check often costs less than a late repair. Follow the maintenance schedule in your owner's manual, by time or distance.
