Buying the 2021 Toyota Corolla L

We rent cars and sell one only now and then. There is no 2021 Toyota Corolla L for sale by us right now. This page sets out the 2021 Toyota Corolla L for buyers, in plain words.

What to check on the Corolla

Ask the seller for the service records of this exact car. A private seller in Ontario must give you a Used Vehicle Information Package. Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay. Look at the tires, brakes and battery; they are costly to replace.

    Under the hood

It is powered by the 2.0L 4-cylinder, with front-wheel drive. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

It is rated 6.6 L/100 km combined: about 20 litres every 300 km. At our price setting, driving 100 km costs about $10.23, and a 300 km weekend about $30.69. EPA puts its fuel cost at US$1,900 a year for 15,000 miles at US prices.

    A good match for

It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while. It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month.

    Living with the Corolla

As a compact car, it is easy to drive and park in the city. With 510 litres of luggage space by the EPA's measure, it takes a family's bags for a long weekend.

Rent it for a week first

Try the Corolla on your commute, then decide. Renting first costs a fraction of the price of buying the wrong car. Rent it, live with it for a week, and decide with real experience.

    Year and trim

Ask the seller which trim it is; badges can be swapped and options vary. If you are unsure between two options, rent one of them for a week first. If two trims share a powertrain, the difference is equipment, which you can check in person.

    Money matters

At our price setting, 100 km costs about $10.23 in fuel. A 1,000 km month costs roughly $102.30 at our price setting. Get an insurance quote for this exact model before you buy; rates differ a lot between models.

    The Corolla and Java

CarmaCars is based in Toronto, about 442 km from Java, and does not deliver there. If you are starting from Toronto, rent the car here and drive it to Java.
