Buying the 2021 Toyota Corolla LE

We are a rental company, not a dealer, so there is no 2021 Toyota Corolla LE for sale by us right now. Here is what to know about the 2021 Toyota Corolla LE before buying one.

    Recalls and complaints

In Ontario, a used car needs a Safety Standards Certificate to be registered. Owners filed 187 complaints with NHTSA, most often about air bags, engine and unknown or other; have those parts checked. Look at the tires, brakes and battery; they are costly to replace. Check whether every recall was done, by the VIN, before you pay.

    The figures, translated

The 2.0L 4-cylinder, paired with a 10-speed automatic, drives it. It runs on regular gas. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow.

Plan on about 20 litres per 300 km; the combined rating is 6.6 L/100 km. Expect about $10.23 per 100 km at our price setting. At US fuel prices, the EPA estimates US$1,900 a year for 15,000 miles.

    Size and space

Being a compact car, it is easy to park and comfortable on longer drives. Luggage space is rated at 510 litres: a family's bags for a long weekend.

    Who rents the Corolla

It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while. It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town.

Drive it on your own roads

A week with the Corolla answers more than any brochure. A test week in the Corolla tells you more than any review. A week of your own driving tells you more than a test drive: the commute, the parking, the fuel.

    Money matters

At our price setting, 100 km costs about $10.23 in fuel. A 1,000 km month costs roughly $102.30 at our price setting. Ask what a set of tires costs for this trim; sizes and prices vary.

    Choosing the right one

Decide what matters most first: fuel use, space, or the price you can pay. Ask the seller which trim it is; badges can be swapped and options vary. Write down the VIN of any car you consider; it unlocks the recall and service history.

    A note on Java
