    Who rents the Corolla

It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next. It suits a family trip where everyone and everything fits in one car.

    The Corolla in everyday use

Its car body is low and settled, with a separate trunk. In plain terms, its 510 litres of luggage space hold a family's bags for a long weekend.

Drive it on your own roads

If it is in our fleet, rent it; if not, a similar car gives you a feel for the class. Renting first costs a fraction of the price of buying the wrong car. Rent the Corolla for a week and see how it fits your life.

    Narrowing it down

If you are unsure between two options, rent one of them for a week first. Write down the VIN of any car you consider; it unlocks the recall and service history. Decide what matters most first: fuel use, space, or the price you can pay.

    Running costs

Ask what a set of tires costs for this trim; sizes and prices vary. A pre-purchase inspection is a small cost next to the price of the car. The EPA estimates US$1,900 a year in fuel for 15,000 miles at US prices.
