The 2006 MINI Cooper at a glance

Here is the 2006 MINI Cooper: its powertrains, its fuel use and the trims sold in Canada.

Under the hood

It uses the 1.6L 4-cylinder and front-wheel drive. It calls for premium gas, which costs more a litre than regular. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow. It has a manual gearbox, so you need to be comfortable with a clutch.

It is rated 8.6 L/100 km combined: about 26 litres every 300 km. City driving is rated 9.8 L/100 km and highway driving 7.3. The fuel for 100 km comes to about $15.05 at our price setting. We count premium at $1.75 a litre for the cost figures on this page.

Who the Cooper suits

It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while. It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going. It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next.

The Cooper in everyday use

Low and compact, it is a car for the drive more than the cargo. The EPA lists 198 litres for luggage, roughly about a large suitcase and a couple of soft bags.

Longer drives

Return the car with the fuel it had at pickup, or a fee applies. Each car shows the kilometres included each day and the rate for extra ones. For a trip out of Ontario, ask first: it needs our written consent.

Rent this car

Put this car and your dates in a request, and we reply with an offer. Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. We deliver across the Toronto area, or you collect the car from our location for free.

Checking your details

Ontario G2 or G licence holders aged 18 and up can request a car. If you are under 26, expect a young driver fee each day; there is no upper age limit. Cars marked "no credit card needed" accept a debit card in your name; the others need a credit card.

Third-party liability comes with every rate. For the car itself: your own policy with OPCF 27, a card that covers rentals, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is separate from the rental price and is returned after the rental. We check your licence and identity before we confirm, the same way for every renter.

Booking in plain terms

Pick your car, enter your dates and send the request. That is all you do at first, and it is free. Our reply is an offer that lists the rate, the kilometres included and any delivery fee. Pay when you approve, not a minute before.

The calendar on each car's page helps you pick dates that work. A single booking can run up to 365 days. For longer, it renews month after month. At least 2 hours must separate the request from the pickup.

One more step

Find a car you like and ask for your dates.

What changed for 2006

About $15.05 for fuel, from the EPA combined rating of 8.6 L/100 km (1.6L 4-cylinder, front-wheel drive, 5-speed manual) at $1.75 a litre for premium. You return the car with the same fuel it had at pickup.

How old do I need to be to rent?
