What to know about the 2018 MINI Cooper

The 2018 MINI Cooper is listed here with each powertrain the EPA rated.

Engine and fuel

The engine is the 1.5L 3-cylinder turbo, with front-wheel drive and a 6-speed manual. The turbo gives a small engine the pull of a bigger one when you need it. Front-wheel drive is the usual layout for cars this size, predictable in the rain and the snow. It has a manual gearbox, so you need to be comfortable with a clutch.

The EPA rates it at 7.4 L/100 km combined, so a 300 km weekend uses about 22 litres. It uses 8.4 L/100 km in the city and 6.3 on the highway, by its rating. The fuel for 100 km comes to about $12.95 at our price setting. We count premium at $1.75 a litre for the cost figures on this page.

Inside and out

A car body like this keeps the weight low, so it feels settled on the highway. At 255 litres, the trunk fits about a large suitcase and a couple of soft bags.

Road trips

Trips outside Ontario need our written consent, agreed before you go. Return the car with the fuel it had at pickup, or a fee applies. Plan longer trips against the kilometres included each day.

Good uses for the Cooper

It suits a stretch between cars, by the week or the month. It suits anyone who needs a car for a few days, a week or a month without buying one. It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town.

In our fleet

None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile, 6 similar cars are listed below. Ask for this exact car in your request, and we tell you what we can offer. Delivery to your door is available across the Toronto area.

Booking with CarmaCars

You begin by requesting a car for your dates; the request is free. We send the offer to your account and your email, with the total shown. An offer is valid for 24 hours, and you pay only when you approve it.

You can see every car's calendar and rates before you send anything. For longer stays, each booking of up to 365 days renews with a new agreement. Last-minute plans are fine with at least 2 hours of notice.

Before pickup

Every driver needs an Ontario G2 or G licence and must be 18 or older. A young driver fee applies each day for drivers under 26. Your original licence, not a photo, comes with you to the handover.

You need one of three things in place for damage to the car: OPCF 27 on your own policy, a credit card that covers rentals, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. A deposit is held for every rental, about 1 hour before you get the car. Every renter goes through the same check of licence and identity before the car is confirmed.

Ready when you are
