The 2011 Mazda MX-5, briefly
This is the 2011 Mazda MX-5: how it was powered, what it uses and which trims were sold in Canada.
What the specs mean
The powertrain here is the 2.0L 4-cylinder with rear-wheel drive and a 5-speed manual. It calls for premium gas, which costs more a litre than regular. Rear-wheel drive gives balanced handling; in winter, the tires make the biggest difference. It has a manual gearbox, so you need to be comfortable with a clutch.
For 300 km of mixed driving, expect about 29 litres, from its 9.7 L/100 km rating. Around town it is rated at 10.5 L/100 km; on the highway, 8.6. Per 100 km, plan on roughly $16.97. We count premium at $1.75 a litre for the cost figures on this page.
Practical details
As a two-seat sports car, it puts the driving first and the luggage second.
When the MX-5 makes sense
It suits people curious about the model who want to drive it before they buy. It suits a stretch of weeks between selling one car and buying the next. It suits a weekend away when the train does not reach where you are going.
Road trips
Trips outside Ontario need our written consent, agreed before you go. Each car shows the kilometres included each day and the rate for extra ones. Return the car with the same fuel it had at pickup.
Can you rent one?
Ask for this exact car in your request, and we tell you what we can offer. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. Meanwhile, 7 similar cars are listed below. We meet you with the car at the time we confirm, at your address or ours.
Who qualifies
Ontario G2 or G licences are accepted, for drivers 18 and older. There is no upper age limit, and drivers under 26 pay a fee for each day. Debit works on cars marked "no credit card needed"; the others take a credit card.
Third-party liability is in the rate; for the car, bring OPCF 27, use your card's benefit, or add the CarmaCars Protection Plan. We hold the deposit shortly before pickup and release it after the return. Each extra driver is checked the same way and signs the rental agreement.
How to book
To get started, send a request for the car and dates. You are not charged for it. The reply is an offer you can read in full before you decide anything. If the offer works for you, approve and pay to confirm. If not, you owe nothing.
Open a car to see its photos, rates, deposit and kilometres included. Need it longer than 365 days? Renew with a new agreement when the booking ends. A pickup can be as soon as 2 hours after your request, when the car is free.
Talk to a person
