The 2016 Mazda MX-5 at a glance

If you are looking at the 2016 Mazda MX-5, here is what the figures say. In Canada it is sold as the GS, GS-P and GT.

What the specs mean

It runs the 2.0L 4-cylinder, with rear-wheel drive. It calls for premium gas, which costs more a litre than regular. Rear-wheel drive gives balanced handling; in winter, the tires make the biggest difference. The automatic gearbox makes city traffic easy.

A combined rating of 7.8 L/100 km works out to about 23 litres per 300 km. It uses 8.9 L/100 km in the city and 6.5 on the highway, by its rating. A 300 km weekend costs about $40.95 in energy at our price setting. We count premium at $1.75 a litre for the cost figures on this page.

Out of town

Return the car with the same fuel it had at pickup. Plan longer trips against the kilometres included each day. For a trip out of Ontario, ask first: it needs our written consent.

Best uses

It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while. It suits a summer weekend or a special occasion more than a move. It suits visitors who want a familiar car for a week in town.

How big it is

Low and compact, it is a car for the drive more than the cargo.

Getting this car from us

Meanwhile, 7 similar cars are listed below. A request for your dates gets you an offer from a person. This exact car is not in our fleet at the moment; a request asks us to look for one. Collect the car at our location for free, or have it delivered.

What we need from you

Our minimum age is 18; an Ontario G2 or G licence is required. No maximum age, and a daily fee only for drivers under 26. At the handover we check your licence and the card in your name.

Liability to other people is included in every rate. For the car itself, pick your own policy (OPCF 27), a card with rental car benefits, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. We take the deposit shortly before pickup and return it after the car comes back. Licence and identity checks happen before the booking is confirmed.

How a booking comes together

You request the car online with your dates, and nothing is charged to send it. A person replies with an offer priced for your dates, not an estimate. Say yes to the offer and pay; that is when the booking is made.

Open a car to see its photos, rates, deposit and kilometres included. Need it longer than 365 days? Renew with a new agreement when the booking ends. A pickup can be as soon as 2 hours after your request, when the car is free.

Over to you

Pick the car that fits the trip and send a request.
