The 2012 Lexus LS: an overview
Here are the 2012 Lexus LS's figures, in numbers and in words.
Engine and fuel
The 5.0L 8-cylinder hybrid, paired with an automatic (CVT), drives it. As a hybrid, it does best in stop-and-go traffic, where the electric motor does more of the work. With all-wheel drive, it pulls away more surely on slippery roads, though it does not stop any shorter. A continuously variable automatic keeps the engine in its most efficient range.
The EPA rates it at 11.5 L/100 km combined, so a 300 km weekend uses about 35 litres. City driving is rated 12.7 L/100 km and highway driving 10.1. At our price setting, it costs about $17.83 to drive 100 km.
Out of town
Return the car with the same fuel it had at pickup. Each car shows the kilometres included each day and the rate for extra ones. Plan longer trips against the kilometres included each day.
Who rents the LS
It suits people curious about the model who want to drive it before they buy. It suits someone whose own car is in the shop for a while. Its all-wheel drive suits winter roads and trips to ski country.
Space and size
As a mid-size car, it has a closed trunk that keeps luggage out of sight. Its 283 litres of luggage space fit about two large suitcases and a few soft bags.
Can I rent it?
Similar cars are listed below if you need one now. None in our fleet right now; ask and we look for one for your dates. A request for your dates gets you an offer from a person. The car can come to your door in the Toronto area, or you pick it up at no charge.
Booking, step by step
Send the request with your dates first; no money changes hands at that stage. The offer we send lists the car we confirm and the full price. When you approve the offer and pay, the car is booked for you.
Prices on each car's page are before tax, and the offer adds the tax. Trips of 7 days or more use the weekly rate, and shorter trips never cost more than it. A request can be for today, as long as the pickup is at least 2 hours away.
Who can rent
We need every driver to be at least 18, with an Ontario G2 or G licence. There is no upper age limit, and drivers under 26 pay a fee for each day. The card you pay with must be yours, and you bring it to the handover.
You need one of three things in place for damage to the car: OPCF 27 on your own policy, a credit card that covers rentals, or the CarmaCars Protection Plan. The deposit is never taken when you book; it comes about 1 hour before pickup. Everyone who will drive signs the agreement after the licence check.
When you know your dates
Ask for the car, read the offer, approve it if it suits you.
