Shopping for a car in Ruby

To be upfront: CarmaCars is a rental company and does not sell cars or arrange loans. We do not check credit for loans or lend money; renting needs a licence, an identity check and a card. If credit is the obstacle, a monthly rental is one way to have a car while you sort it out; renting is not a loan, so there is no credit check.

Rent it before you buy it

A week of your own driving tells you more than twenty minutes with a salesperson: the commute, the parking, the fuel. Renting the model you are thinking of buying, for a day or a week, is a real test drive on your own roads. Take the car home, load it with your things, park it where you park, and then decide.

Before you sign

Look for rust under the doors and around the wheel arches. A Safety Standards Certificate is needed in Ontario to register a used car you buy. Read the contract before you sign, and ask about every fee you do not understand. Look at real fuel use for the model, not only the advertised figure.

A car meanwhile

Between selling and buying, a weekly rental keeps the commute normal. Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. Waiting for a car on order? A monthly rental covers the wait, up to 365 days a booking.
