Car Financing in Berkeley, CA

Shopping for a car in Berkeley

Car Financing in Berkeley: CarmaCars rents cars and does not sell them, but we can still be useful. We are not a lender and do not arrange loans. A monthly rental can bridge the time while you arrange one with your bank. We do not check credit for loans or lend money; renting needs a licence, an identity check and a card.

Drive it like you own it

Renting first means you buy knowing the car, not guessing. A week of your own driving tells you more than twenty minutes with a salesperson: the commute, the parking, the fuel. A rental shows you the small things: the seat after an hour, the blind spots, the trunk with your stroller in it.

Before you sign

Have a mechanic inspect a used car before you buy it, at a shop you choose. For a used car, ask for the vehicle's service records and look up its recall history by the VIN. Confirm the ownership and that no money is still owed on the car. Read the contract before you sign, and ask about every fee you do not understand.

Between cars

Selling privately can take time; a rental means no rush. If the car you want is weeks away, rent one month at a time and stop when it arrives. Renting while you shop lets you compare cars without pressure.
